Shinsei Dojo
Shinsei Dojo is a traditional Dojo set right in the heart of the Somerset / Dorset countryside, our mission is to provide and maintain an authentic, traditional, Japanese style Dojo for our local community and to encourage the practice of all Budo and Traditional Martial Arts. We are also insured for 3rd party indemnity upto £1,000,000 under Martial Guard Insurance for all students regardless of style.
Tenshi Aikikai
At Shinsei Dojo and our Aikido school, Tenshi Aikikai, we practice Budo through Traditional Aikido, under War 'Tenshi' Lewis. Whilst we draw from the knowledge and experience of many great sensei, we follow the teachings of Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan primarily, stressing the development of Jin (Internal Strength) within all Tenshi Aikikai students.
Whist we are vigilant that the principles set forth by O'sensei are adhered to, we look to allow the natural development of Aikido to flourish.
Our motto, given to us by Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan is 稽古一生, "Keiko Issyou" "Practice Life (Forever)", and, following this motto, we look to Aikido to assist us in the day to day practice of living life in the best way we can.
We practice not only the Taijutsu aspect of AIkido but Aiki Weapons also, in the form of the Jo & Bokken. In addition to the Aiki Weapon sytem developed and maitained by Morihiro Saito sensei from O'sensei's teaching, we also practice the Aikibatto system developed by sensei Stefan Stenudd. Tenshi Aikikai is a member of Aikido for Daily Life and The British Aikido Board and as such, all students on joining Aikido for Daily Life are insured for upto £2,000,000 3rd party indemnity, this is in addition to insurance provided by Shinsei Dojo. Tenshi Aikikai instructors are British Aikido Board coach level 1 qualified or better.
Shinsei Dojo as a suitable venue
Our dojo is also an ideal place for practitioners of all Budo or traditional martial arts and sport arts, such as Kenjutsu, Iaido, Karate, Judo, Jiu Jutsu, Taekwondo and Muay Thai as well as Yoga, Pilates etc. We have also made it affordable to run classes with as few as three students. You and your students will be insured under the dojo's banner and your instructor insurance will take effect as soon as we add you as a named instructor to the policy. Shinsei Dojo is also ideal if you require a venue with a 'little something different' for a special event. In addition there is computer and internet access, with a monitor and mouse control from the training area of the dojo for the use of video if required.
